Synonyms with cooperative enterprise, collaboration and a shared responsibility for success, 'collective' perfectly encapsulates the spirit of The Early Music Collective. Our musicians share a commitment to focused music-making and unite in a passion and affinity for their repertoire.
The Early Music Collective brings together some of the country's finest young singers and musicians, united in their passion and affinity for early music. This new and exciting ensemble presents inventive and engaging programmes of music, predominantly from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, but occasionally juxtaposing this with more contemporary works. It strives to be at the forefront of historically informed performance and looks to explore innovative ways of engaging wide-ranging audiences in the modern day and in making this music accessible for them.
The EMC was founded by its artistic director, Ben Horden. Many of its members lead diverse and successful careers as solo artists and ensemble musicians. The Monteverdi Choir, The Sixteen, Fieri Consort, and Siglo de Oro are represented amongst its number.
