Yorkshire Bach Choir: Handel, Purcell and Blow

  • St Michael le Belfrey York (map)

We finish the season with music by Purcell and Handel that is amongst their most colourful and invigorating writing for chorus and instruments. Handel’s vivid setting of Dixit Dominus, composed during his stay in Italy, is one of his most virtuosic and impressive choral compositions. The choir will also perform Purcell’s verse anthems Rejoice in the Lord Alway, O Sing unto the Lord and My Beloved Spake, alongside Blow’s I Beheld and Lo, a Great Multitude.
